Christmas
Greetings from Bert and Sophie Hellinger
For many of us, Christmas is often a time of tranquility,
pausing, community and silence. Bert Hellinger describes exactly that silence
in a short story:
静默 Silence

Silence
In silence everything stands still, every tone and every movement. That what is deep and ultimate is soundless. Since everything that searches for entry comes to an end inside of it, the gates of silence remain open. That what wanted more than to be silent sinks into it.
In silence every question stops, also every pain that sreams. Even life and death. In it, we are somewhere else. Everything ultimate is silent, infinitely silent – and so is its depth.
Where does this last insight come from? It also comes from silence. Yet it does not move. Any movement takes away its depth. Just like the silence, it is simply present.
Where do the words remain? They stay away.
Everything that fulfills itself becomes silent. Nothing is added to it. Everything is present in it, present and fulfilled.
What does silence cause in our life? Silence heals. Nobody and nothing manifests in it. Nobody and nothing that is lacking. It collapses inside of it.
Silence leads us to observation, a pure observation without anything opposite to it.
How do we answer to everything that wants something from us? With silence, with a composed silence. Before this silence, it becomes silent as well.
This silence remains.
Is there anything greater? Therefore we look at ourselves as also at our parens and our life partners and at the newborn children with wonder and love. At the same time we look beyond them at something hidden, eternally different, eternally new.
Merry Christmas and deep happiness to everyone in the new year.

Nobody and nothing manifests in it. Nobody and nothing that is lacking. It collapses inside of it.
